Parish Boundary Markers Were Beaten In An Annual Ceremony Called The Beating Of The Bounds. Parish Boundaries Were Significant Because Welfare Payments, Burials And Medical Treatment For Poor People Used To Be Provided By The Parish In Which They Were Born.
