“Real street food” declares the sign on Café TPT’s door. They may have a small blink-and-you-miss-it exterior but the humble establishment belies its Cantonese and Malaysian menu of biblical proportions.

A must-eat highlight is its Tai Pai Tong Hawkers dishes, ‘hawkers’ referring to humble food stalls that operate on roadsides in Hong Kong. If you haven’t worked it out yet, Tai Pai Tong (Cantonese for ‘hawker’) is where this establishment takes its name.

Expect lots of tasty street-food style dishes like Bak Kut Teh – a Malaysian meaty broth. Translating to ‘Meat Bone Tea’ it comprises of slowly-simmered pork ribs in a complex broth of star anise, cinnamon, fennel and other spices. Also Zha Jiang Mian – thick wheat noodles smothered in a punchy fermented soya bean paste – will give you a hug from the inside.

Their seafood offering is pretty extensive too – Deep Fried Crispy Oyster and Crab Sautéed with Salted Eggs are just a couple of yummy offerings you can order.

Like the name suggests, Café TPT is first and foremost a café so bubble tea is served in many-a-tasty variety – like a refreshing Watermelon with Pearl Tapioca or traditional Black Tea with Milk and Pearl Tapioca. Or try a sweet Mango Sago with Mixed Fruits dessert.
