Named after its first owner and creator, Joe Allen London opened in 1977 and is the mirror image of the original New York site. From the get go, Joe Allen was always about the dining experience in a venue filled with theatre memorabilia. The waiters were all wannabe actors, producers and directors hoping to woo the cast and crew of the West End’s best theatrical productions who would regularly use Joe’s as their own canteen. Joe Allen rapidly became the place to hang-out, packed with every film, television, fashion, rock and stage celebrities. Today nothing has changed, the brick work walls are still adorned with posters of classic musicals, stage productions and famous American stars.
