Lotus Garden (Gerrard Street) | Cantonese & Pekinese
Lotus Garden’s exterior has been fashioned into a traditional Chinese pagoda, with the archetypal swirling canopy. Essentially turning its corner of Gerrard Street and Macclesfield Street into a crazy-cool hybrid of Anglo-Oriental architecture.
Lotus Garden’s immense, crowd-pleasing menu features over 200 dishes, spanning all aspects of Cantonese and Pekinese cuisine so, rest assured, there’ll be something for everyone. Love barbecue? Try their mouth-watering barbecue classics like dreamy duck and succulent pork, or, if you’re feeling brave, take the plunge and order their barbecued Octopus with Assorted Pig Organs.
Hungry for hot pot? Their Lamb Belly with Dry Bean Curd Stick will do the trick, or, if you prefer something with a fiery kick, the Aubergine and Shredded Pork with Spicy Sauce comes highly recommended.
Lotus Garden presents some great value set menus, some of which are split into regions (choose between Cantonese or Pekinese), as well as vegetarian and house specialties. And dim sum is available during the day too.
Tipple-wise, they have a good selection of global wines, including Shao Hsing Chinese wine and Japanese sake.
In China, ‘lotus’ signifies purity and perfection and Lotus Garden goes a long way to live up to its new name. So, in the search for the perfect meal, simply look for the grand pagoda, you can’t miss it.
