Mon Plaisir

Mon Plaisir is London’s oldest French Restaurant and has been family owned for over fifty years. Established by the Viala brothers during the ‘forties’, it was acquired by Alain Lhermitte in 1972 and has steadfastly continued the tradition of serving top quality authentic French cuisine, with friendly service to this day. Mon Plaisir - French restaurant in LondonThe founders and original proprietors of Mon Plaisir’s restaurant in London’s Covent Garden, were David and Jean Viala. The first photograph of David and Jean (see right) was taken circa 1957. Mon Plaisir was originally smaller but just as busy, with our freshly prepared traditional French cooking, proving popular in London’s West End. Dine at Mon Plaisir's French restaurantSince the Lhermitte family acquired Mon Plaisir, they have added additional dining rooms so that more people can enjoy the Mon Plaisir dining experience. Our four rooms each have very different settings, from cosy and intimate, to larger rooms for group bookings and special occasions. Choose from our 1940’s themed front room, the colourful back, the contemporary themed area next door and the upper floor overlooking the bar. The famous bar that came from a Lyonnais brothel, is now a permanent feature in our London restaurant. Our restaurant is filled with hidden gems, with traditional French artifacts and artwork lining every wall. On your next visit, have a look, you never know what you may find.
