    Introducing The Hummingbird Bakery...

The Hummingbird Bakery landed in Notting Hill in early 2004 to become the home of quality American baking in London. Today it has six branches across the city and is famed the world over for its delicious cupcakes and other sweet treats and desserts. The Hummingbird Bakery is an American-style bakery founded in 2004 to bring the authentic taste of American home baking to London. The company opened its first branch on Portobello Road in Notting Hill in 2004 and has since launched a further six branches across London in South Kensington, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington and Richmond. It also has a franchise presence in the Middle East with two branches already operating successfully in Dubai and with further launches planned. arek Malouf, the company founder and Managing Director, developed The Hummingbird Bakery concept in response to what he saw as a lack of any places in London to enjoy the taste of truly authentic American-style baking. His vision for the bakery and love of American baking transpired to be something that many within London, from across the UK and globally came to share. Today the bakery has become a highly celebrated and iconic brand. One of the key factors in The Hummingbird Bakery’s success has been its ethos that cakes taste best when they’ve been freshly baked using exactly the same ingredients and techniques as those used in home baking. For this reason, each and every Hummingbird Bakery branch has its own kitchen and a team of resident expert bakers and cake decorators. This enables the bakery to bake to order and to only serve its customers cakes that have been freshly baked the very same day. The Hummingbird Bakery offers a full range of American-style baked treats and desserts including cupcakes, layer cakes, brownies, pies, cheesecakes and much more. It played a lead role in bringing cupcakes and Red Velvet cake to popularity in the UK and continues to innovate, introducing new and exciting cupcake flavours through its ‘Monthly Specials’ series. The bakery also caters for customers requiring cakes and cupcakes for weddings, birthdays, events and other celebrations. There is no secret to what makes The Hummingbird Bakery’s cakes and other treats taste so good. Almost all of its recipes have been shared for home bakers to enjoy through its three bestselling cookbooks: The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook (2009), Cake Days (2011) and Home Sweet Home (2013). Together these titles have sold well in excess of 1.5 million copies and have been translated into many different languages. No matter where a Hummingbird Bakery branch pops up, customers can always be assured of a welcoming environment, friendly staff and the delightful smells and tastes of authentic American home baking.
