The figure on the right is the Franciscan Bernardino of Feltre (1439 - 1494; formally beatified in 1653). He is sometimes confused with Saint Bernardino, who was also a Franciscan.
Bernardino da Feltre was active in North Italy and was responsible for the establishment or development of the Monte di Pietà (an institution for monetary loans) in many North Italian towns. It was customary to show him with an image of the Pietà.
