The Virgin suckling the Infant Christ Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1500s

Titian's style in the last years of his life developed into one of extraordinary freedom, a personal manner based on a lifetime experimenting with colour and the possibilities inherent in oil paints. This very late Virgin and Child was painted when Titian was also working on his poetic mythological narratives for Philip II of Spain, such as 'The Death of Actaeon' (also in the National Gallery).

On loan to the McLellan Galleries, Glasgow from January to April 2005, and The Bowes Museum, County Durham from April to June 2005.
