The Virgin and Child with Four Angels Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1300s

This small panel of about 1305 may once have been attached to another (perhaps depicting the Crucifixion) to form a diptych.

The Virgin and Child enthroned in majesty among angels is known as a Maestà and is also found in monumental altarpieces (see also the Maestà attributed to the Master of the Casole Fresco). The frame is original but has been regilded.
