The Rosy Wealth of June Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1800s

This painting is a well-known example of the more conventional flower pieces by Fantin-Latour, based on the Dutch tradition represented by van Huysum and on the French painter Monnoyer (1633 - 1699). In 1898 this painting was exhibited in London at the Royal Academy.

The assurance of the painting, with delphiniums and lilies interspersed among the roses in the vase, is evident in comparison with earlier works such as the 'Still Life with Glass Jug, Fruit and Flowers' of 1861.
