A Torrent in a Mountainous Landscape Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1600s

Though signed and traditionally ascribed to Ruisdael, the picture has sometimes been attributed to Jan (Johan) van Kessel (1641 - 1680) who was probably a pupil of Ruisdael. Recently it has been argued that the painting is in fact by Ruisdael himself, and the signature authentic. It is very similar to other waterfalls by Ruisdael of the late 1660s.
