Venice: The Grand Canal with S. Simeone Piccolo Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1700s

The domed 18th-century church of S. Simeone Piccolo (SS. Simeone e Giuda), was rebuilt by Scalfarotto and consecrated in 1738.

This is one of Canaletto's most carefully conceived and executed large pictures, and is impressive for the control of lighting and perspectival effects, and also for the lively representation of incidental details.
