A Landscape with a River at the Foot of a Hill Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1600s

This is de Wet's only known landscape without biblical figures. The right half of the composition was repeated - with variations - in the right background of de Wet's 'Abraham giving the Shewbread to Melchizedek' (Dublin, National Gallery).

This picture is similar to as signed and dated painting of 'Eliezer and Rebecca' of 1646 (St. Petersburg, Hermitage) and was probably painted at about the same time.
