The Louvre under Snow Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1900s

This is one of a series of views painted by Pissarro from the apartment he took in 1900 at 28 Place Dauphine on the Ile-de-la-Cité in Paris.

Here he is looking west along the River Seine. The Pont-des-Arts and the Louvre are seen in the distance. The railings and steps on the left enclose the 19th-century statue of Henri IV.

On loan to the exhibition 'Pissarro: The first Impressionist' at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney from November 2005 to February 2006 and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne from March to May 2006.
