It has been suggested that this is a depiction of Overschie in the Province of South Holland, but this identification is now rejected because the church there had a small open cupola which does not appear in this picture. A number of similar scenes by the artist are known, for example, a painting of 1651 in the Corcoran Gallery, Washington.
