A River with Fishermen Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1700s

The authenticity of the painting and of its signature and date has been confirmed by cleaning. Like most of Vernet's landscapes this scene is doubtless imaginary. It is among the last pictures he painted during his long stay in Rome. The building in the background recalls one of that city's most celebrated buildings, the Pantheon.
