A Man with a Pair of Dividers (?) Print
by National Gallery

£20.00

1500s

The identity of the sitter is uncertain. It was once thought that the dividers (?) suggested a mathematician, alive around 1494, who is said to have taught perspective to Giovanni Bellini and Carpaccio. However, the sitter could be Gentile's brother, Giovanni, as he looked in the last years of the 15th century.
