Recommendations for a Decadent Weekend in London

Our top picks for the best hotels, restaurants, and shops to visit and things to do during a decadent weekend in London where money is no object

London is an expensive place and there is no question, to get the most from the city you need to have money; a lot of money. With the finest wines, food, hotels, cars, clothes and jewellery on offer, without exaggerating, one could easily spend one hundred thousand pounds a day.

Recently the largest ever lottery payout to a single person occurred with the lucky winner receiving a one off payment of nearly $900 million.

The BBC recently calculated that to burn through that amount as a 30 year old you would need to spend around £60,000 a day. That's not possible we hear you say; well we think it is in London.

If you don't believe us and you have your imaginary stack ready then here are our recommendations for the best of the best when visiting London for a weekend as the biggest lottery winner ever.

5 Star Hotels & Luxury Apartments

As the richest ever lottery winner you are going to require your own private butler and twenty four seven Rolls Royce and chefs on call.

London has some of the finest hotels in the world so you will be well served on your trip. Many famous and important people have set up residence at five star London hotels in the past so you will be in good company. Peter Sellers lived at The Dorchester for many years for example and even met his future wife Britt Ekland there.

The Berkeley in Kensington has a fleet of chauffeured cars available for guests. They also offer a service in association with a London Ferrari dealership that lets you order and customise your new Ferrari during your stay.

The Ritz is probably the most famous hotel in London and also has its own fleet of chauffeured cars, this time Rolls Royces. Its own casino would also give you plenty of opportunity to gamble away your new found wealth.

London's Best Restaurants

London has some of the best restaurants in the world. Whatever you fancy eating there is a fancy restaurant for you.

So where to eat. Two very notable sushi restaurants have Michelin stars and if one of them, if you really want to push the sushi boat out is £310 a head so bring out the champagne. Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester is a great choice as a 3 Michelin starred restaurant.

High-end Bars & Nightclubs

London has no shortage of flashy bars and nightclubs to waste your hard earned money at. If you want to have a truly "rockstar" night out London is one of the best places to do it. Be warned though, it is addictive getting that much attention.

Things To Do & Places to Visit

There are lots of great free and cheap things to do in London but if you do have the cash then even more doors open to you in terms of possibilities.

Taking a helicopter flight over London is an amazing way to see the city.

Shops & Shopping

London is a mecca for shoppers, particularly wealthy Arab shoppers ironically. Selfridges, Harrods and Fortnum & Mason are the most well known department stores. Each has plenty of expensive goodies and clothes to spoil yourself with.

Travel

If you are going for the ultimate luxury weekend in London then us suggesting a bus or catching a tube train is probably not going to work. You are probably thinking Rolls Royce, Ferrari or perhaps a stretched limo.

If you like to flash the cash and have had a great weekend in London recently we want to hear about it. Not only can you earn London points, which you probably don't need, you can at least let other live vicariously through your experiences. We would also love you to register and regularly take a look at our London guide and London blog for ideas for your next extravagant weekend in London.
