It's no mean feat finding a cheap, tasty place to eat in central London. Save the testing task and some money for your shopping experience on Oxford Street with our top picks and recommendations for the best cheap restaurants and places to grab a bite near Oxford Circus.
Who hasn't been to London unprepared as to where to eat and spent the same on lunch as you could spend on a new outfit?! Although there are some amazing places to treat yourself not even a Russian Oligarch could afford some restaurants everyday.
Thankfully there are some great value places to eat in Fitzrovia, Soho and Mayfair especially at the moment as even the most respected places have some brilliant offers to tempt the customers in. These are 5 of my favourite cheap places to eat near Oxford Circus for the next time you head in to town for some retail therapy.
Abokado
Want something whilst on the go? Abokado will just be what you need. Mark and Lindsay launched their first shop in Covent Garden in 2004. With 23 shops spread across the City and West End your quick-stop-shop is at your every corner. Abokado is Asian-infused, from hot pots, to sushi and salads, wraps and shrwaps and not forgetting breakfast and they also have a great selection of juices. So if you want to channel your inner-wellbeing, and charge up your shopping energy before hitting the likes of Oxford Street, Bond Street or Regent Street, then this is the place for you.
Chipotle
You have pounded the pavements of Oxford Street and you need a quick pick-me-up before you get back to doing what London has to offer the most. Shopping. Found on Wardour Street, off Oxford Street is Chipotle, a US chain gone viral in the UK and us Londoners never seem to get enough! The appeal of the burrito is clear: lots of delicious goodness in your hands, bold flavours, and instant gratification once you get your teeth into it. Literally. Chipotle is your answer to a cheap way to whet your palate during the lunch-time rush.
Simit Sarayi (381 Oxford Street)
If you are saving your cash for shopping then you may want a simple no-frills place where you can rest your feet for twenty minutes and enjoy a pick-me-up. If that is the case with you then SImit Sarayi is a great choice.
A "simit" is a type of delicious, seeded, Turkish bagel which gave its name to Simit Sarayi where you can pop in and grab a simit sandwich and try it for yourself. Simit Sarayi have two locations on Oxford Street but we have picked the one at the West One Shopping Centre on Oxford Street as it is conveniently located by Bond Street tube and is perfect for a quick and cheap lunch. If you would prefer an english breakfast or a cake and a cup of tea. There aren't many cheap places to eat near Mayfair so Simit Sarayi offers great value for the area.
Wasabi Sushi & Bento (58 Oxford Street)
Offering some really tasty hot and cold Japanese inspired dishes at a reasonable price with self service making it super speedy anyone who works in London will be familiar with Wasabi Sushi & Bento.
Pret A Manger (Warwick Street)
Everyone who has set foot in London must be familiar with Pret A Manger. With some of the most delicious sandwich fillings available anywhere it is a great choice for a cheap and fast lunch and the English named the sandwich so it is almost a tourist bucket list moment eating one in London.
Where a few years ago this spot in London would have been the home to a retaurant, a designer shop, or exclusive office space, it is now a massive sandwich shop, If there was ever a sign of austerity hitting the middle class, or perhaps one of the modern fast pace of life, it is the Pret on Warwick Street; it is huge. With seating space for at least 100 people it has the feel of an airport lounge, and not in a bad way. Fast efficient service; clean and comfortable. There are plugs everywhere if you need to recharge a phone or plugin a laptop. It is conveniently located just one street in to Soho from Regent Street, a literal stones' throw from Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus it's a great place for a quick break or a catch-up with friends at lunchtime.
