7 Michelin Star Restaurants in Mayfair

Mayfair is one of the wealthiest areas of London so it is no surprise that there are many great restaurants which have won many awards. Perhaps the most coveted award a restaurant can receive is that of three Michelin stars from the Michelin Guide inspectors although receiving two stars is also an impressive achievement.

To give you an idea of how difficult it is to receive three Michelin stars, there are only five restaurants in the UK that currently hold three stars. Mayfair quite remarkably has two restaurants with three Michelin stars, two thirds of such restaurants that are currently in London. Two Michelin stars also denote an incredible achievement and there are five restaurants in Mayfair that have two Michelin stars.

Alain Ducasse is one of the world’s most decorated chefs. Known not only for his incomparable French cuisine, Alain even if you are not staying at the Dorchester this three Michelin star restaurant in Mayfair is well worth visiting.

The Greenhouse

A Mayfair institution, The Greenhouse has had many guises over the years and has never been more celebrated has the holder of two Michelin stars. There are few better restaurants in London for French food.

Hélène Darroze (at the Connaught)

Former Gordon Ramsay protege Hélène Darroze's launched her first restaurant at The Connaught in Carlos Place. It was subsquently awarded two Michelin stars.

Le Gavroche

Formerly the holder of three Michelen stars Le Gavroche now "only" holds two.

The Araki
12 New Burlington Street, Mayfair, London, W1S 3BF

The Araki is a three Michelin star sushi restaurant located on New Burlington Street in Mayfair. One of only three restaurnts in London to hold three Michelin stars. The concept is not suited for everyone. There are two sittings one at 6.30pm and a second at 8.30pm and the cost per person is £300 (not including drinks).

If you are interested in attending on of these restaurants it is definitely essential to book in advance. Although Michelin starred restaurants are highly revered they are not for everyone. If you are looking for something that is fun and casual and like traditional dishes and large portions at a decent price you are probably not going to enjoy the three star Michelin experience.
