5 Places in Central London for a Quick Cheap Lunch
Our top picks for the best places in central London for a quick and great value lunch. We've picked some places from Soho, Mayfair, and Fitzrovia all of which are near Oxford Street, Regent Street, and Leicester Square. Whether you are looking for a respite from some shopping or visiting tourist attractions, or grabbing five midway through a busy day at the office these are great places that will sustain you for the remainder of the day. Or at least until dinner.
If we said “How long do you get for lunch” we can pretty much guess you will look as us with a blank expression. We get it, we know working in the Capital means business. Want to know London's best cheap eats? Here are some of our favourites in Soho and Mayfair .
Abokado
Want something whilst on the go? Abokado will just be what you need. Mark and Lindsay launched their first shop in Covent Garden in 2004. With 25 shops spread across the City and West End your quick-stop-shop is at your every corner. Abokado is Asian-infused, from hot pots, to sushi and salads, wraps and shrwaps and not forgetting breakfast and they also have a great selection of juices. So if you want to channel your inner-wellbeing, then this is the place for you.
Chipotle
Chipotle is a US chain gone viral in the UK and us Londoners never seem to get enough! The appeal of the burrito is clear: lots of delicious goodness in your hands, bold flavours, and instant gratification once you get your teeth into it. Literally. Chipotle is your answer to a cheap way to whet your palate during the lunch-time rush.
Tortilla (Oxford Circus
Again we are recommending a Mexican place as a top pick. The less than imaginatively named Tortilla at 6 Market Place, just a few moments from Oxford Circus, is one for the discerning bandito. The naked burritos and salads are great for those on a low carb or keto diet. Tortilla is not only a great place for lunch it is also a great place for breakfast especially if like me your idea of a great start to the day is chorizo and eggs wrapped in a freshly baked, you guessed it, tortilla.
Mildreds
If you have just jumped on the meat free Mondays bandwagon then you are a good few decades behind the pioneer of vegetarian restaurants that is Mildreds. If you don't know, now you know. If you are hungry and looking for something to satisfy then you need to head to Mildreds. If you are a Gordon Ramsay naysayer type that is not convinced by meatless meals then you need to lighten up and taste what is possible.
Riding House Cafe
A great little hangout for the last few remaining creatives left in Fitzrovia, the Riding House Cafe is the kind of place we all wish we had on the corner of our street. If you are in central London early and looking for a cup of tea and some breakfast or catching up with friends then the Riding House Cafe should be amongst the places you consider. At least once. Friendly staff and lots of yummy choices on the menu make it a place you will want to come back to though.
